Stairwell, void and tall walls: airless spraying in a family house
Anyone having a family house sprayed will often deal with walls that run from the ground floor up to the loft. Such a stairwell is the most laborious part. We mask the stairs and banister, set up a stable platform and spray the wall from top to bottom. That prevents colour differences and overlaps.
The transition between floors also needs attention. Walls that are the same colour upstairs and downstairs we prefer to spray in the same session, so the light does not fall differently on one half than the other. That prevents visible seams halfway up the stairs.
A void or tall hall needs extra material and extra time, because we have to reach higher. Measure the height beforehand, or let us do it during the on-site visit. Preferably plan the spraying after the dusty and carpentry work. If plastering or carpentry is still to be done, let that finish first. Latex bonds better to a clean, dry surface. According to the Sigma data sheet, latex is dry after about 1 hour and can be overpainted after 4 hours at 23 degrees.
