Is latex spraying cheaper than rolling, and where do you find a cheap latex sprayer? The honest answer is that the price per m2 alone does not say enough. A low from-price can mean that preparation, a good scrub class or the second coat are not included. That is why we explain where price differences come from and what to look out for when you compare quotes. Our packages start from €7.95 per m2 and the exact price is always in the quote.

Is latex spraying cheaper than rolling?

That depends on what you count. Spraying is fast, so the labour time per m2 can be lower. But spraying needs more masking, and that comes back in the price. Rolling is cheaper in material use in a small room and more expensive in hours in a large home. We have not been able to support a general answer with figures, so we will not give you a percentage.

What you can do is have the same work quoted with and without preparation. You can find more about the comparison between the two methods on rolling or spraying latex.

Where do price differences in latex spraying come from?

Two quotes for the same home can be far apart. That is usually down to one or more of these four points.

  1. The scrub class of the paint. Under NEN-EN 13300 (the European standard for how washable a paint is) it runs from class 1 (highest wear resistance) to class 5. A more expensive paint often has a higher class. See Rawlins Paints (as of 6 October 2026) for the definition. We explain the classes on our page about scrub class 1, 2 or 3.
  2. Preparation included or not. Masking, sanding, repairs and filling of inside corners take hours. If that is not in the price, it comes back as extra work.
  3. The number of coats. One coat is cheaper than two coats, but covers less. We always spray two coats.
  4. Colour and surface. Light colours are simpler than dark colours, and a smooth surface is finished faster than a wall that needs a lot of repair work.

The price build-up is explained at length on the page latex spraying cost per m2.

Why Latex-Spuiter.nl is sometimes a little more expensive than another latex sprayer

Do you get a quote that comes out lower than ours? That can happen. The difference almost always lies in four things that you cannot see in a from-price. We name no providers; these are the questions you can ask any latex sprayer.

1. Quality and brand of the latex paint

With a budget brand or heavily thinned latex, the paint covers less well. Then you see colour differences sooner or extra coats are needed, and the wall is often less scrub-resistant. We work with premium brands such as Sigma, Sikkens and Caparol, with high covering power and a fixed scrub class per package. We only thin within what the technical sheet allows; for Sigma Air Pure Supermatt that is 0 to 10 per cent water for airless spraying. That paint costs more to buy, but stays good-looking for years.

2. Masking and preparation

Anyone who spends little time on masking or repairs assumes the wall is already perfect. The risk is spray mist on skirting boards, frames or windows. We mask everything carefully, fill inside corners and gaps, sand by hand and repair small damage beforehand. That costs extra hours and you see it in the quote, but it delivers a crisp end result.

Why masking takes the most time

In our experience the spraying itself is fast: one coat on a room of 12 to 20 m2 takes 30 to 60 minutes. Carefully shielding floors, frames and furniture determines the schedule. In an empty home or a new build it therefore goes faster and so is cheaper.

3. Scale and size of the project

Getting the airless spray machine ready and setting up the room takes fixed time. For one room those fixed costs weigh heavily per m2. A company that mainly does large new-build projects can push the m2 price down because it works on without travel time. If you have several rooms done at the same time, it becomes cheaper per m2. Worked examples follow further down this page.

4. Experience with coat thickness, tip opening and pressure

Strips, patches and drips usually arise from the wrong coat thickness, tip opening or spray pressure. Graco advises starting at the lowest pressure and raising it gradually until the coat is even. We work with more than 10 years of experience in latex and lacquer spraying, always spray two coats and walk through the work with you at handover. You pay only after that.

What is in a low from-price and what is in our package?

A from-price is a starting point. That is why below we list the questions you can ask any provider, next to what is included with us. We name no providers, because it is about the questions.

Question for any providerOur package (from €7.95 per m2)
Is the paint included and which scrub class?Yes, Basic class 3, Medium class 2, High class 1
Is the masking of windows and frames in it?Yes
Is there sanding?Yes, hand sanding of walls and ceilings
Are inside corners filled?Yes, all inside corners
Small repairs?Yes, included
How many coats?Always two coats of latex
Clearing up and handover?Yes, included
Conditions on colour?Based on light colours and one colour per quote

A package without these points may be cheaper on paper and then turn out more expensive after all. A lower price is therefore not wrong, as long as you know what you get for it.

Affordable wall and ceiling spraying without cutting quality

If you want affordable latex spraying, there are ways to bring down the total price without the work suffering.

  • Choose a package deliberately. For a child's room, utility room or partition wall, Basic with class 3 is often enough. For a hallway or living room, a higher class is sensible. Explanation per room is on the page about scrub classes.
  • Bundle rooms. Several rooms in one go are more efficient than separate jobs. For walls and ceilings together, see spray painting walls and spray painting ceilings.
  • Empty the room yourself. The less we have to cover, the fewer the hours.
  • Stick to one light colour. That is the basis of our from-prices.

Worked example: 80 m2 in three packages

An example shows how the packages compare. Take 80 m2 of wall and ceiling. Then with our from-prices:

PackageFrom-price per m2CalculationTotal from
Basic (class 3)€7.9580 times 7.95€636.00
Medium (class 2)€9.9580 times 9.95€796.00
High (class 1)€11.9580 times 11.95€956.00

These are from-amounts for light colours, for illustration. The exact price is in the quote. Price guides such as Werkspot quote on average €6 to €15 per m2 for interior painting (as of 6 October 2026). That is a wide range, which shows that the differences between providers can be large.

Why a very low price can be a risk

We are not saying that a low price is always a bad sign. There are signals to watch for, though. Is it not said which paint is used? Is the scrub class not mentioned? Is there not a word about masking, sanding or filling? Then it is wise to ask further. A good quote names the paint, the number of coats and what is included.

The data sheet of the paint gives the facts. For Sigma Air Pure Supermatt, for example, it gives scrub class 2 and a coverage of 7.5 to 10 m2 per litre. You can lay such a figure next to the quote yourself.

VAT and extra work: two things to ask in advance

With every quote, ask whether the price includes or excludes VAT (btw). An amount excluding VAT looks cheaper, but is not. According to the Dutch Tax Administration (as of 6 October 2026), the reduced VAT rate of 9 per cent applies only to painting homes that are older than 2 years at the time of the work. For a new-build home less than 2 years old, a different rate may therefore apply.

Also ask how extra work is calculated. What counts as extra work, who decides on it and is it reported in advance? Put the agreements in the quote, then you know in advance where you stand. With a fixed price for the whole package, surprises are smaller, but even then deviations from the agreement, such as extra repair work, have to be discussed separately.

Our advice: compare the total price, not just the from-price

Have two to three providers look at the same home and ask for everything in writing. Then compare the total. Want a quote from us? That is a free quote and we come and look first. Do you live in Haarlem or Bloemendaal? Then look at the pages latex spraying Haarlem and latex spraying Bloemendaal.

Frequently asked questions

Is latex spraying cheaper than rolling?

Not always. Spraying saves time on large surfaces, but needs more masking work. We have not found a reliable percentage. So ask for a quote for your situation.

Where do I find a cheap latex sprayer?

Compare several quotes and look at the total. A cheap latex sprayer can be perfectly fine, as long as it is clear which paint, how many coats and what preparation is included.

Why is one latex sprayer cheaper than another?

Differences usually come from the scrub class of the paint, whether preparation is included, the number of coats and the colour. A lower price can also mean that extra work is charged afterwards.

What is cheap latex?

Cheap latex often has a lower scrub class, such as class 3 in our Basic package. That is not a bad choice for bedrooms and partition walls, but less suitable for busy rooms such as a hallway.

Is budget latex spraying also neat?

Yes, provided the preparation is right. Neat spraying starts with masking, sanding, repairing and filling. We do that in every package and always spray two coats.

What does latex spraying cost per m2 with you?

From €7.95 (Basic), €9.95 (Medium) and €11.95 (High) per m2, based on light colours and one colour per quote. The exact price is in the quote.

Which costs can still be added?

Think of dark colours, extra colours, a lot of repair work or a surface that first has to be plastered. We discuss that at the site visit, so that you have a quote in advance.

Is the paint included in the price?

Yes, the latex is included in our packages. The class depends on the package: Basic is scrub class 3, Medium class 2 and High class 1.

Can I get a lower price if I have several rooms done?

A bigger job is more efficient, and that can count in the quote. We do not promise a fixed discount. Ask for a quote with all the rooms and you will see the total.

How do I request a quote?

Via the page with the contact form or by phone or WhatsApp on +31 6 38048347, 7 days a week from 07:30 to 19:00. We come and look and then give a price.
