Which is better, rolling or spraying latex? In a home with a lot of wall surface and little time, spraying wins, because it is much smoother and quicker. You can find the difference in execution under the difference between rolling and spraying. In our practice spraying is up to 5 times quicker than rolling. A living room with about 40 m2 of walls and 25 m2 of ceiling takes only a fraction of an hour to spray itself, and masking takes the most time.
In an occupied home, that masking is half the work. We protect the floor with masking paper and film, tape frames and edges and cover furniture. You do not have to clear everything out, but the emptier the room, the quicker the work. An empty room often saves hours.
If there are children or pets in the house, plan the working day so that they are not there. The paint is water-based and dries quickly, but we do not want the spray mist circulating through the house. We keep windows open during the work and close the room afterwards for drying. You can often walk through the room again the same day, though the latest coat stays sensitive for a while.
Ceilings in older apartments sometimes have white efflorescence or discolouration from old damp. We check that at the on-site visit and discuss whether a sealing coat or repair is needed first.

Frequently asked questions about latex spraying in Stadionbuurt
