Stairwell and landing in a terraced house: how we handle the high work
In a family house the stairwell is usually the trickiest place. The wall runs from the ground floor to the top, and there is often a staircase against it. We work safely on a sturdy staircase or trestle, mask the treads and spray the wall in one go. That leaves no join halfway, which is a risk with hand rolling.
The landing and the upstairs hallway come next. There are often many doors and frames there, so masking takes time. Small rooms such as a toilet or storage room we take in the same round.
In the flats the work is simpler in structure. Want a whole apartment done in a day? An empty home works best. If furniture is still there, we cover it and work room by room.

A void or high hall needs a little more preparation than a normal hallway. During the visit we look at how high the wall is and what works best.
