So what is latex spraying exactly? It is painting with an airless machine that atomises the latex under high pressure into a fine mist. That gives a coat without roller marks. The technique takes experience with distance, speed and overlap.

In a flat the walls consist of long, straight surfaces with many sockets, doors and frames. That means masking work. We begin where the machine has room and work systematically through the home. A family house adds the stairwell. High walls along the stairs we spray from top to bottom, with extra attention to covering the treads. A home of about 120 m2 is, in our experience, often finished in 1 to 2 days, preparation included. That is an indication, and the visit sets the schedule.
As a tenant, in a flat as much as in a terraced house, you first ask your landlord for permission. As an owner you look at your own planning and, in a flat, at the VvE rules (the VvE is the owners' association of the building). In a neighbourhood with 72 per cent rented homes, that last point is worth a conversation with the manager.
